The so-called hallux valgus first toe is the deviation of the first toe outwards, to the side.I think many of us know what such a deformity looks like, which is most often found in older people.But why does this bone start to stand out in some people, but not in others?Let's try to understand it.

Reasons
Several factors influence the development "bumps" with age we list some of them:
- transverse flat foot;
- genetic predisposition;
- wearing narrow shoes (pointed shoes, toes too short - anything that does not allow the necessary space for the toes);
- poorly chosen shoes (heel too high or lack of orthopedic insoles, if necessary);
- endocrine disorders;
- osteoporosis;
- congenital weakness of connective and bone tissues.
Symptoms
You should be careful and carefully examine your feet if:
- there is pain in the joints of the feet;
- your legs get tired quickly;
- you have difficulty choosing shoes;
- there is a visible deformity of the foot;

If you notice these changes, you should see a podiatrist and be sure to take x-rays and footprints to check for flat feet.So, if you or your children have flat feet, it is advisable to monitor the evolution of the pathology from a very young age, namely: choose the right shoes, do massages and regularly consult an orthopedist.People with flat feet are at a much higher risk of developing this deformity.
Prevention
- examination by an orthopedist to quickly detect flat feet;
- wear shoes without stiletto heels or pointed toes);
- obligatory use of orthopedic insoles;
- Exercise therapy.
Remember that if you do nothing, the disease will develop into chronic bursitis (inflammation) and osteoarthritis.Additionally, if the disease is advanced, surgery may be necessary.
